新媒材基礎 Fundamentals of New Media
Fall, 2009
Graduate Institute of Architecture, NCTU
Instructors: June-Hao Hou (JH) 侯君昊, Chor-Kheng Lim (CK) 林楚卿
10AM-1PM, Wednesdays, in HA105
Prerequisites: Basic computer literacy and some imaging and modeling experiences.
Objectives:
This course is to train students with the knowledge and ability to utilize new digital design media -- primarily digital fabrication and VR technologies. Digital fabrication technology for making free-form artifacts involves laser cutting and rapid prototyping (RP) techniques. And Virtual Reality (VR) technology involves stereoscopic imagery, VR-Cave environment and interactive technology. Two kinds of digital media are, in some sense, critical to the development of recent advances of digital architecture. Therefore, this course is a preparation for students who are interested in realizing their digital architecture design, both/either physically and/or virtually, using new digital design media and production processes to be taught in this course.
